Using a steaming machine to remove stains from your couch is a great idea, but for the best results, follow these steps:
- Vacuum First
Before steaming, vacuum your couch to remove dust, crumbs, and pet hair. This prevents dirt from spreading when steaming.
2. Pre-Treat Stains (Optional but Recommended)
If you have tough stains (like food, coffee, or ink), pre-treat them with a mild cleaner:
● Water-Based Stains: Mix warm water + a few drops of dish soap and blot with a cloth.
● Oil-Based Stains: Sprinkle baking soda, let it sit for 15 minutes, then vacuum.
● Ink or Wine: Dab rubbing alcohol gently with a cloth.
3. Use the Steam Cleaner Properly
● Fill the water tank with distilled water (avoids mineral buildup).
● If your steamer allows, add a bit of upholstery cleaner.
● Use the upholstery attachment and start steaming in small sections.
● Move the steamer slowly so it lifts dirt and stains effectively.
4. Dry the Couch
● Do not soak the fabric—lightly steam it and blot excess moisture with a towel.
● Open windows or use a fan to speed up drying.
5. (Optional) Deodorize & Refresh
● Sprinkle baking soda after steaming, let it sit for 20 minutes, then vacuum for extra freshness.
